KILDARE: St Laurence's GAA to hold Oskars event on December 2

St. Laurence’s GAA has been at the heart of the community spanning the Narraghmore, Calverstown, Kilmead, Crookstown, Ballitore , Booleigh, Kilgowan, Brewel, Ballymount, Mullaghmast and surrounding areas of south Co Kildare since 1957.

The club has 1,200 members with a team of dedicated volunteers facilitating 15 different age groups and over 40 teams across all codes of Men’s and Ladies Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie.

The club also offers Badminton and Bowls and provides an important hub for locals in our Community Complex, playground and running track.

St Laurence’s is generating much-needed funds to develop the club now and into the future. On December 2nd , the Club will hold “St. Laurence’s Oskars” in the Community Complex.

During the months of October and November, 90 volunteer actors are rehearsing and filming their parts in 7 well known films, being coached and mentored by Kevin Rowe Events to ensure a really professional Oskars event.

The 7 films are Braveheart, Sister Act, Man about Dog, Love Hate, Derry Girls, The Field and The Snapper. The 90+ actors have been giving it their all, rehearsing with Tom Dempsey as their acting coach, learning lines, researching costumes and locations for shooting. Filming will take place locally on the first 2 weekends in November with trailers for the films available later that month and the full screening at a gala event in front of an audience of over 700 on Saturday December 2 nd in St.

The event has been so well received by the local community and there is a real buzz about the event.

This is the first major fundraiser like this that the club has hosted since 2018. It is sure to be a wonderful occasion on December 2nd as the community comes together to celebrate the great club and have fun while doing so!
