Kildare teenager accused of undertaking on M7 at 162 kph

A teenager appeared in court accused of undertaking at 162 kph while uninsured on the motorway in Co Laois. 

Oran Kavanagh (18) of 30 Ruanbeg Avenue, Ruanbeg Manor, Kildare is accused of dangerous driving and driving without insurance at Ballydavis near Junction 16 of the M7 on March 8 last. 

Judge Andrew Cody asked if the summons for dangerous driving was solely related to the speed at which the vehicle was travelling. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said it wasn’t and that the accused had allegedly undertaken while travelling at 162kph. 

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case to Portlaoise District Court on September 19.
