KILDARE: Temporary protection order granted for woman who suffered a violent outburst from her ex-partner

ACCUSATIONS
A woman who suffered a violent outburst from her ex-partner, whom she shares a child with, has been granted a temporary protection order.
The alleged injured party appeared before presiding Judge Deirdre Gearty at Naas District Court on Thursday, July 20, during a court session which was held in-camera (in private).
She told the judge that she had been with the man for a number of years, but their relationship came to an end a few months ago.
The woman said that on a recent occasion, her ex-partner came over to her house to mind their child.
However, he became involved in an argument with the woman: she alleged that he verbally abused her, grabbed and twisted her wrist, and threatened her.
She added that she was put in fear by this incident.
Judge Gearty said she was satisfied that the woman met the threshold for a temporary protection order, and directed gardaí to serve the order on the woman's ex-partner.
She also said that the man can continue to communicate with her via text or email, so long as they only discuss matters relating to their child.
The case will resume on a date in November.
