Kildare trainers on the mark at Naas Racecourse meeting on Tuesday

Naas hosted a Tuesday evening meeting this week following a transfer from Sligo racecourse, and it was an evening in which the spoils were shared around by a variety of different trainers. Seven different trainers claimed victory on the seven-race card, while jockey Killian Leonard was the only rider to record two wins as the Cork native teamed up with Patrick Flynn for the opener and Mick Quinn to land a win in the penultimate race of the evening.
There were some rather predictable trainers in the winners enclosure on a sunny evening in Naas however, with local men Dermot Weld and Kevin Prendergast enjoying wins, while Aidan O’Brien and Jim Bolger also had some success.
One of the more impressive performers of the evening was Zabalan, who came home with almost five lengths to spare as 4/9 favourite in the Book Hospitality Online Maiden.
“He did what you'd expect and had the form to win the way he did,” said Weld.
“We'll go for a handicap with him. He's consistent and is the same horse that went to Cork. He ran a good race in Cork to finish second and ran a good race to finish third at Dundalk and was also third at the Curragh before that.
“He's run to the same level there and he's won. That's all he's had to do.
“A mile-and-a-quarter could be his right trip as he's by Dutch Art - we could look at something at Galway with him.”
Jim Bolger’s Club Wexford won the big race of the evening, the Panoramic Restaurant Rated Race, with jockey Kevin Manning on board, while Chris Hayes partnered Kevin Prendergast’s Rise Again to first in the final race of the evening.
