A Naas District Court judge was told that a man allegedly assaulted his ex-partner after she showed him a copy of a protection order she obtained against him.

The allegations were detailed to Judge Desmond Zaidan during an in-camera (in private) court session held on Wednesday, April 16 last.

The woman appeared before the court in order to apply for an interim barring order, and claimed that her ex-partner became physically aggressive towards her after she showed him a copy of a protection order.

She also said that she became so afraid of him that she fled and had to hide away from him.

However, Judge Zaidan remarked that the alleged assault would be in breach of the protection order, and as such, the initial order would cover her.

The judge advised her to go to her local garda station and make a complaint about the alleged assault to them on her way back from court.
