KILDARE: Woman did not know that her husband was already married in Pakistan
A woman told Naas District Court that her husband was already married in Pakistan - and she did not know.
The woman said that “he used me to get a visa for a woman in Pakistan.”
She further claimed that it was only after she got married to him that she became aware he was already married.
Judge Desmond Zaidan guaranteed the woman an interim protection order and adjourned the matter to March 11 next.
The judge also advised the woman to go to the Department of Justice and “tell them what you told me.”
He added: “If you don’t, they won’t know” and he said she should show that she has obtained a protection order from the court.
He said otherwise the Department of Justice would continue to grant visas and extend visas.
“He has abused the state’s welcome to bring his first wife into the jurisdiction. This is clearly an abuse of the immigration process,” added Judge Zaidan.
