Kildare's Katie comes second in Queen of the Land

Over the weekend Naas Macra and county members attended the Queen of the Land festival.

Macra members from Naas and Kildare attended the Queen of the Land festival in County Arms Hotel, Birr, last weekend.

The Kildare Queen, Katie O'Neill, a Microbiology Lab Analyst, who hails from just outside Sallins, had a jam-packed three days at the festival which involved everything from welly throwing and crossbar challenges to on stage interviews and a formal banquet ball on Sunday night.

Katie wowed the crowd and judges alike, with her bubbly personality and funny stories, so much so that she came first runner up of the competition, out of 26 entrants.

Also involved in the event was Katie's other half and fellow Naas Macra member Joe Metcalfe who was her escort for the weekend.

A big congratulations to Katie from all in Naas Macra!
