Kildare's Paul Mescal among top names for next James Bond after Gladiator II role. The Maynooth man ranks as the third favourite behind English pair Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Theo James, the former of which is the clear favourite.

After Barbara Broccoli revealed they are looking for a male in their 30s to play the next James Bond, speculations continued for who will take on the iconic role with Mescal being currently just 28 years-old.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still the favourite to get the role after reports suggested that Bond producers had screen-tested and chosen him as their next leading man. Although this has all gone quiet since the start of the year as many expected it to be announced already if it was him, and the odds have now come out to 11/10 for the English actor to get the role.
