Luas line that serves Kildare commuters closed as woman is hospitalised following crash

The Luas line is closed in both directions from Tallaght following a collision between a tram and a car shortly after midday today.

The accident occurred near the Tallaght Hospital stop when the Luas tram collided with the side of an oncoming car, resulting in the tram grinding to a complete halt.

One woman has been taken to hospital following the accident, though her injuries are not thought to be life threatening. She was a passenger on the tram, while there are no reports of any injuries to the occupants of the car.

The Red Line remains closed this afternoon as a Garda investigation into the incident continues. Many Kildare commuters use the Red Cow stop on that line, while the rest of the route serves from Saggart to the 3 Arena.
