Naas District Court today granted a drinks licence to a Kilcullen pub which has changed ownership.

The court heard that businessman Tom Dignam leased The Spout premises for the past five years and recently completed the purchase of the pub.

Mr Dignam told the court under oath that he had a total of ten years of pub management experience and there were no incidents with gardai during that time.

Solicitor Paul D'Arcy said Mr Dignam had a strict zero tolerance policy towards underage drinking and anybody suspected of being under 18 must produce official ID before being served.

The court was also told that Mr Dignam had a 'hands-on' management style.

Garda Supt Martin Walker said he had no objections to the licence application and it was duly granted by Judge Zaidan.
