"This officially launches the Library Crime Book Club 2018 and I’m delighted to be interviewing author Julie Parsons tomorrow, Saturday, May 12 at 2.30pm" said Rose.

"Julie’s last book, 'The Therapy House' after a break of 9 years received great acclaim and it wasn’t writer’s block that had kept her from the top of the bestsellers – it was simply being the only sibling based in Ireland, her life dramatically changed when her mother took ill and dementia took over. Ms Parsons found herself in the situation as the main carer/confidante/support to her mother whose mental health was rapidly deteriorating… it’s a scenario many of you can relate to".

“But last year, the publication of The Therapy House shows 'Parsons at her subtle, psychologically best. Well worth the wait” wrote the Irish Times and I, for one, am looking forward to rmeeting the author of this wonderful thriller.

“The Therapy House is clever, beautifully written and thoughtful. It's a crime thriller, yes, and a very satisfactory one, but you walk away with big questions about history and the nature of forgiveness. Ireland's violent past - both ancient and more modern - is a strong theme, but worn lightly enough that it doesn't crush the action” wrote the Irish Times.

Throw in Micheal McLoughlin, a character in her earlier books, an underlying child abuse story, and what Parsons describes as “our ambivalence to cruelty”, and you have a cracking great read….. Join us tomorrow on May 12 at Blessington Library at 2.30pm. See contact details below - if you’re interested, do ring the library now and book a place!
