'This would free up bigger houses for people waiting to be housed'
A substantial number of social housing units to be build in Naas should be earmarked for as age friendly housing.
That's according to Independent Ireland councillor Bill Clear, who wants Kildare County Council to "provide for a significant significant proportion of age-friendly housing for older persons in Naas" at a planned development on New Caragh Road in the town.
He added this would recognise "the growing demand from senior citizens who wish to downsize or right-size their accommodation."
He also said it would meet the needs of older residents and "help free up larger family homes for allocation to families on the housing list."
