Most of those living at Kildare homeless shelter are from Dublin

Less than half of those living in homeless accommodation near Naas are from County Kildare.
A Naas Municipal District meeting was told that the centre run by the Peter McVerry Trust at Kerdiffstown, Naas, has 40 clients from County Kildare and 60 from Dublin.
Kildare County Council official Siobhán Barry told the meeting that the costs are shared.
The meeting also heard that some people living there have moved into more permanent accommodation and supports are in place to help those residing there.
Ms Barry told the meeting that “we’re lucky to have the Peter McVerry Trust” and said it also engages with local businesses where problems arise.
She described Kerdiffstown as a good facility which is well managed.
She said that the people living there would otherwise “be on the street.”
Naas Mayor Bill Clear said that supports should be maintained and those living in Kerdiffstown need help and training and “not to be left there on a long term basis.”
