Network Ireland Kildare Branch are proud to announce this year's charity partner Saplings Special School for Children with Autism and Complex needs in Kill, Co Kildare.
This year our Annual Charity Lunch in aid of Saplings will be held on Friday November 29th in Lawlors Hotel, Naas, Co Kildare.
Every year alongside our charity partner we organise a range of events throughout the year and our Annual Charity Lunch in November to fund raise for our chosen charity. This is a very popular event with both our members and local businesses.
Last year we raised over €25,568 for The Alzheimer's Society of Ireland in Kildangan Daycare Centre, Kildangan, Co Kildare.
Saplings Special School for Children with Autism and Complex Needs, Kill, is a co-educational autism specific special school, providing high quality education for pupils with autism and complex needs. There are currently 30 students attending the school between the ages of 5 and 18. All students have a primary diagnosis of autism and a secondary diagnosis of a mild, moderate, or severe/profound learning disability. Some of the students also have another diagnosis such as epilepsy, ADHD, ADD etc.
Network Ireland Kildare Branch President Anita Meenehan said: "We are delighted that Saplings Special School for Children with Autism and Complex needs in Kill are this year's chosen charity.
Although all charities are worthwhile and worthy there is a great need for funding within the school to provide support and we urge members, businesses and family and friends to rally around and support the children and help us deliver them a safe outdoor environment that they can thrive and grow in."
Ciara Dunne, nominating member for the school and parent to Sam, who attends the school, said: "Fundraising for a resource like an outdoor shelter would be an ideal addition to the outdoor space in Saplings.
"That would allow students to spend time outside regardless of the weather and ensure children get to spend as much time outside for movement breaks.
"It would allow for the children to avail of learning opportunities outside all year round.
"Development of the outdoor area would also include a sandpit and improvements to the wall railing surrounding Saplings."
