No plans for cycling or scooter facilities at Kildare scenic area

'It would compromise safety and security'
There are no plans to provide facilities for cyclists or e-scooter users at a scenic area in Naas.
At a Naas Municipal District meeting Independent politician Seamie Moore asked that councillors be provided with details of plans to upgrade “the leisure, walking and
seating facilities” at the lakes area in the town, adjacent to the hospital.
He said “the safety, security and leisure uses of that facility (should not be) compromised by the inclusion of cycling or use of e-scooters.”
According to Kildare County Council, the proposed works there will involve widening the footpaths to facilitate easier two-way access for pedestrians and to replace the existing seating and provide a paved area around the seats. It added that there are no proposals for the inclusion of cycling or e-scooters.
