No upgrades due to toucan crossing in this Kildare town

Cllr Peter Melrose (SD) asked if a developer is required to upgrade toucan crossing on the R405, Maynooth
A Social Democrats councillor has asked Kildare County Council if a developer is required to install an upgraded signalised toucan crossing on the R405, Maynooth, Co Kildare.
According to Cllr Peter Melrose, who raised his question at the July meeting of Clane-Maynooth Municipal District recently, this would be in accordance with planning permission granted on appeal by An Bord Pleanála, “prior to the first occupation of the development.”
A report issued by the council stated: “The existing toucan crossing arrangement on the R405 complies with the Kildare County Council Standard Toucan Crossing Detail Standards and the toucan crossing was upgraded recently by Kildare County Council, since the original grant condition was issued and is in operation.
“The Kildare County Council Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Department is satisfied that Condition 11 has been complied with.”
