Woman says she locks her door every night because she is in fear

A paranoid man believed his wife was having an affair.

The woman made the claim at a family law hearing at Naas District Court.

The husband was not present or represented at the brief hearing.

The court heard that she had a protection order in place against her husband - who also has one in place against her.

“I’m in fear; I’m afraid he might kill me,” she claimed.

She also said she had to go to the gardaí the night before the hearing and said “I lock my door every night.”

It was further claimed he had threatened her child.

Noting that protection orders are in existence, Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the case to July 14.

He told her that if there are any breaches she should go to the gardaí, who have the power to arrest him “and bring him before me.”

He told the woman that a protection order gives her the same rights as a barring order, except that he is not barred from the home.
