Plans are being made for a new route through this Kildare town

The Kildare County Council plan means drivers will be able to bypass the town centre
Planning is underway for a new junction in Naas town centre.
It is being planned at Murtagh’s Corner where Newbridge Road, Kilcullen Road and the main street connect.
Kildare County Council says it has appointed a consulting engineer to progress this project and “a kick off meeting” was held in December.
A design for the traffic lights has already been completed and the next step will be to complete some site investigations.
Then the tender documents will be finalised and this will be followed by the appointment of a contractor to complete the works.
Independent councillor Bill Clear said this could significantly alleviate traffic congestion by enabling vehicles to travel directly through, bypassing the town centre.
He said this would improve traffic flow.
He said part of the junction “looks horrendous” and "presents a terrible facade coming in from the Newbridge Road.”
