Kildare North Labour General Election candidate Emmet Stagg has welcomed the publication of Invitations of Expressions of Interest from building contractors for the construction of the new St Joseph's National School in Kilcock.

Building contractors have until May 3 to indicate that they wish to be considered for the construction of the new school and will be shortlisted for the tender stage.

Planning permission was granted in October for the new school which will comprise 16 classrooms, 5 Special Education Tuition Rooms, a multi-purpose room, a library resource room, a general purpose hall and a special needs unit with two base classrooms.

Mr Stagg congratulated the Parents Association of the School in progressing the new school project and he vowed to continue to monitor progress on the Tender Stage to ensure there was no delay in getting the school to construction.
