An emergency protection order was denied for a woman who accused her husband of intimidation.

The case was heard in Naas District Court on Thursday, May 16 last, during an in-camera (in private) court session.

The woman told Judge Desmond Zaidan that she recently divorced her ex-husband, but he has allegedly been acting in an intimidating manner towards her.

She also said that he has a court order to pay her back a sum of money, but he has yet to do so.

The woman further said that, previously, he had threatened to 'expose' her via texts, by detailing a sexual assault she said that she suffered in the past.

After hearing the allegations, Judge Zaidan told the woman that while he 'had no doubt that there are serious issues' between her and her ex-husband, he maintained that she did not meet the threshold for an emergency order to be granted.

He appointed a solicitor for the woman and advised her that if she has any concerns for her safety, she should go to her nearest garda station.

The judge also advised her that the matter could be dealt with in the family law courts.
