Members of the public are being asked to remove their memorials and other items attached to the trees at St Brigid's Well near Kildare town.

This is in advance of maintenance works planned to be completed before the celebration of St Brigid's Day on February 1.

The council said; "Kildare County Council is currently carrying out maintenance works at St. Brigid’s Well at Tully in Kildare Town.

These works are due to be completed in the coming weeks to facilitate the upcoming St. Brigid’s Day celebrations on site and Brigid 1500 Events.

"Part of these works involves the removal of items attached to the trees at this location and other memorial features. We respectfully request that any items of sentimental value be retrieved by Sunday 21st January 2024. Any items remaining after this date will be removed by Kildare County Council and kept in storage for a period of one month.
