Request for Naas litter bin for pedestrians and dog walkers turned down by Council
Issue raised by local councillor
Kildare County Council has turned down a request for another litter bin in Naas town.
It came from Cllr Ger Dunne who asked for litter bins to be installed on the ring road between the Newbridge Road and the Ballymore Eustace Road roundabout.
He said he was making the request “to facilitate pedestrians, runners and dog walkers.”
However Kildare County Council pointed out that it maintains approximately 150 bins “in and around Naas town.
KCC also referred to the “considerable cost” of deploying and maintaining the bins.
And due to limited resources, including funding, it “is not in a position to facilitate this request at this time.”
Cllr Seamie Moore told a Naas Municipal District meeting if bins are not to be put in place then KCC should put up signs asking people to bring their rubbish home with them.
