Dora-May's Cafe, Henry Road, Newbridge

Dora-May's Cafe in Newbridge may be new in town but it has quickly established a solid reputation among customers for home-cooked food with a modern twist.

The cosy ambience of the premises on Henry Road – just two minutes from the Whitewater Shopping Centre - is the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle outside the windows.

Diners are immediately put at ease by the friendly staff - and the funky art on the walls provides a pleasant distraction as you peruse the Menu.

A big selling point of the family-friendly Cafe is that a child can eat free with a paying adult (Meal over €7) on Sundays and Bank Holidays from 11.30am to 1pm.

Special Deals

The other big attraction is that all children get free ice cream with every meal - and can fill their own cone at the ice cream machine!

And a special deal all during November is that anybody who buys a Breakfast or Lunch gets entered into a draw to win a Free Breakfast or Lunch EVERY DAY!

Starters

For my starter, I opted for the Soup of the Day which was Vegetable and came topped with pumpkin seeds - very apt for the Halloween buzz about the town.

The soup was piping hot and a hearty feast for a cold day in Newbridge.

My companion chose the Garlic Prawns and Toasted Italian Bread - an exotic delight for the tastebuds.

Main Course

Many dishes are approved as part of the Slimmer's plan - so you can eat out and still stay on the plan!

My companion selected the Slimmer's Lasagne and Baked Potato and Salad which was a delicious meal and yet low in calories.

I, in turn, went for the Stuffed Chicken and Ham with Mashed Potato - a traditional dish but with a modern twist. And it came with lots of steaming gravy on the side.

Throughout our meal, we were impressed by the generous portions and thus the value for money that Dora-May's offers to customers

Dessert

When it came to Dessert time, we both shared a delicious Ferrero Rocher Cheese Cake - indulgent to the very last spoonful!

The staff, led by manager Agnes, were polite and efficient at all times and nothing was too much trouble.
