Scam Alert: Woman helps 'blond driver' with directions but returns home to find burglary and pet stolen

This scam involved a woman living near Blarney Castle in Co Cork - but people in Co Kildare and elsewhere should be aware of it.

The woman said she was persuaded by a female motorist to show her the way to the Blarney Stone.

But when she returned to her home it was broken into and her pet Chihuahua (pictured) was taken.

She explained: "As I drove into my estate, a silver car was coming from direction of my house.

"A blond woman driving with her hair tied back asked for help and said she was looking for the Blarney Stone.

"I told her to just turn right but she said she had asked lots of people and still couldn't find it.

"I then told her to follow me over there - but when we got to Blarney she disappeared.

"I went back home to discover my house had been broken into via the front window and my dog taken.

"The woman's car was a silver saloon I think with a D registration.

"April is 9 years old Chihuahua and is spayed and chipped. She is a rescue dog who I've had since she was 5 months old."
