School going children have to stand in the mud while waiting for the bus

The pupils attend primary school
A footpath is to be provided for children who have to stand in the mud while waiting to go to school in Naas.
Cllr Anne Breen initially asked for a bus shelter to be built at Monread Park for children waiting to be taken to three primary schools at the Piper’s Hill campus, Kilcullen Road.
She told a Naas Municipal District meeting that some 50 pupils are affected “standing outside in the rain and the elements and the mud.”
According to Kildare County Council it provides shelters for public bus users across the country with the agreement of the National Transport Authority but there “no examples of KCC providing shelters for school bus services.”
The meeting was also told that priority is given to bus services with the highest levels of use and the cost is about €30,000.
KCC engineer David Reel said the council would look at the possibility of putting in a footpath.
