Sentence imposed on Kildare man for driving with no insurance while disqualified

A custodial sentence was handed down to a defendant at Naas District Court on Thursday, April 20, for driving without insurance.

Cian Brannigan, of 15 Allenview Heights in Newbridge, was convicted of committing the offence at Allenview Heights on January 9, 2022.

Judge Desmond Zaidan was told by gardaí that the 30-year-old has a previous conviction for driving with no insurance, which dated back to 2020, and that he was disqualified from driving at the time of the 2022 offence.

The judge sentenced Mr Brannigan to a total of eight months in custody and imposed a four-year driving disqualification on him.

He set his bail at €500.
