The crimes occurred in Prosperous and Coill Dubh

Three shop robberies which all occurred in North Kildare may be linked, according to a member of An Garda Síochána (AGS).

The comment was made by Garda Christopher Fallon, who appeared as a guest on one of KFM's radio programmes earlier today (January 28).

He told host Hannah Kelly that the first incident occurred at the Londis shop located on the Main Street of Prosperous on Friday, January 23 last.

Gda Fallon said that the perpetrator held the shop staff up at knifepoint and made demands for money.

Following this, the next day (Saturday, January 24 last), a robbery occurred at a Daybreak shop located in Coill Dubh.

Gda Fallon explained that a "covered-up male" went into the shop and brandished a wrench while making demands for money.

Lastly, another robbery occurred at the aforementioned Londis shop, also on January 24 last, and the perpetrator in this incident also brandished a wrench and made demands for money.

In addition to mentioning that the three incidents may be linked, he said that gardaí are also looking into the potential participation of a grey-coloured Land Rover Discovery vehicle with the following registration plate: '12-W-410'.

Although Gda Fallon maintained that gardaí "are following a definitive line of enquiry" and "have made a lot of progress" in investigating the three crimes, he still urged anyone with information relating to the three incidents to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01 666 7800.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about the first incident, a spokesperson for AGS responded: "Gardaí responded to an incident of theft that occurred at approximately 10pm on Friday, January 23 last at a retail premises in Prosperous, County Kildare."

They added: "Investigations are currently ongoing."

As for the second incident, the same spokesperson replied: "Gardaí responded to an incident of robbery that occurred at approximately 8.45pm on Saturday, January 24 last that occurred at a retail premises in Coill Dubh, Naas, County Kildare."

The spokesperson added once more that investigations are currently ongoing.

Lastly, when asked about the third incident, the same spokesperson had this to say: "Gardaí responded to an incident of robbery that occurred at approximately 9pm on Saturday, January 24 last that occurred on the Main Street of Prosperous, County Kildare."

Once again, they said that investigations are currently ongoing.
