Shoppers in Whitewater could win BMW car by buying a €5 ticket

Aid agency Haven, which is working to improve the lives of people in Haiti, is running a competition with a BMW 116d car worth €30,000 as the prize.

The gleaming red-coloured vehicle is currently on display on the ground floor of Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge.

For shoppers to be in with a chance to win the prize, simply visit www.havenpartnership.com or purchase a €5 ticket in the shopping centre.

The winner will be chosen and notified on June 19. Ex Ireland rugby star Ronan O'Gara helped launch the competition last week.

All funds raised will support Haven's innovative community development projects on the ground in Haiti.

According to the latest statistics, just 27.6pc of the population in Haiti has access to proper sanitation facilities, 52% of the rural population and 35% of the urban population only have access to sub-standard drinking water. Over 760,000 cases of cholera and 9,000 deaths have been reported in the country since the outbreak began in 2010.
