Members of staff at St Anne's Special National School in the Curragh as well as parents of pupils are raising funds for new sensory and educational resources for the students at the school.

They are also raising funds to keep the school bus operational as it provides the students with the opportunity to interact socially within their communities.

In total there are 13 teachers, SNAs, nurses and parents who are doing a sponsorship parachute jump on June 23.

The group said they need as much support and sponsorship as possible.

St Anne’s Special National School was established in 1967, and moved to its present location on the edge of the Curragh in 1974.

It is a co-educational school for pupils between the ages of 4 and 18 who have been assessed a having either a moderate or severe/profound general learning disability.

Many of the pupils would have additional needs such as physical disabilities, sensory impairment or autistic spectrum disorder.

The school said its aim is to give the children a caring and inspiring academic atmosphere to enable them to achieve their full potential.
