Strict bail granted for couple accused of offences stemming from family feud in Kildare

IN-CAMERA
Strict bail conditions were granted for a couple who appeared in Naas District Court accused of committing offences originating from an 'ongoing' family feud in County Kildare.
The man and woman appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan during an in-camera (in private) court session which took place on Thursday, June 27 last.
A garda who was sworn in told the judge that the couple had recently allegedly trespassed on the man's family home (which is located in County Kildare), and claimed that there was an 'ongoing family dispute' between the man and woman and the rest of the man's family.
The woman was also charged with an assault causing harm offence, and the garda said that this related to an incident in which she allegedly 'scratched' one of the man's relatives, which left scratch marks on their body.
The garda told the judge that he was seeking a further adjournment in the case, as 'new evidence had come to light in the investigation.'
Judge Zaidan agreed to adjourn the case and bail was granted for the couple based on the following conditions: they must stay away from the family home; they must not have any direct or indirect contact with the man's family; and they also must not have direct or indirect contact with any State witnesses.
The case was adjourned to a date in November, in order to give gardaí time to prepare their case against the defendants, and also to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The judge also gave gardaí liberty to re-enter the case at short notice.
