It was a successful weekend for the Kildare Town Running and Tri Club as its members participated in the Dublin City Marathon on Sunday.
For many it was their first marathon and the club ran the marathon as part of a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society with a target of €10,000, but they surpassed this figure and raised more than €20,000.
The Kildare Town Running and Tri Club is set to hold its own fundraising event with a black-tie dress code at Cunningham's Pub in Kildare Town on November 17. The club is aiming to raise €26200 (26.2 miles).
Almost 20,000 people participated in the annual SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon, making it the largest event yet.
