There should be more festivals staged across County Kildare

Support is needed

There has been a call for more festivals to be staged in County Kildare.

A local councillor wants the county council to take a leading role in managing and promoting this.

Fianna Fáil politician Suzanne Doyle says KCC would set up a section dedicated to developing and supporting festivals across the county.

She says KCC should use economies of scale to come up with cost savings.

The councillor is also urging the council to secure “expertise in event management and promotion, in the interest of creating destination events.”

She said these would help the local economy and provide opportunities for community integration and encourage pride of place.
