UPDATE: Voting turnout across County Kildare varies dramatically

About a quarter of those entitled to vote in the Kildare County Council elections had done so by 5.30pm.

But that is an average figure which disguises a couple of stark differences.

A polling station in Kilcock has seen 31% of the electorate come through the doors but it's as low as 19% in Rathangan.

In Kill the figure is 25% and this is 3% less than in 2019.

Figures from elsewhere include Sallins 24%, Athy 24%, Celbridge 24%, Newbridge 25% and 27%, Naas 26%.
