Urgent appeal to witnesses following savage attack on man in Newbridge flat last night

Supt Martin Walker is appealing for witnesses to the serious assault.  A non Irish national was rushed to hospital in Naas and then underwent overnight surgery at St James Hospital.

Two men forced entry into a flat in Eyre St, Newbridge, at about 11pm.

A woman and man were inside the flat. The man was injured with what Gardaí are describing as a blunt instrument.

The woman was not injured.

It is understood that a sum of money was stolen in the incident.
