Walkers in Curragh witness car being set alight

Walkers were shocked to see 'boy racers' spinning a car in circles on the Curragh before setting the vehicle alight.

The incident happened across near the Ballymany Roundabout on the R445 after 7pm on Monday evening last, July 16.

Witnesses said they saw four teenage boys later walked off towards the Ballymany direction.

Kildare Fire Service responded and put out the fire.

A walker who contacted KildareNow via Facebook said: "There was a car set alight on the Curragh by four lads last Monday.

I rang the Gardai as they were spinning the car out of control and the Gardai didn't come and 15 mins later they set it alight.

"The lads who looked about 18 just walked away towards Ballymany laughing their heads off."

The walker added: "It was across from the road from the racecourse we were walking and so were lots of other people.

"A few fire engines came."
