WEATHER: Beware of Frost and Ice on routes

There is widespread frost and icy road conditions as a result across Kildare.

Road temperatures are close to freezing - the temperature at the M7 near Newbridge at 7am is 0.2 degrees.

Don't forget to clear the windscreen and all windows and mirrors in vehicles to maximise visibility.

Leave yourself extra braking distance when driving due to icy conditions.

Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front and drive at appropriate speeds.

Gritting took place overnight but even if the road is clear or looks treated take extra care because salting does not guarantee the road is free from ice.

Today will be a  largely dry day with a mix of cloud and occasional bright or sunny spells.

Highest temperatures will only reach between 4 to 7 degrees.
