Solicitor told the court the parties are known to each other

A woman was allegedly assaulted by  a man who produced a broken bottle, Naas District Court heard.

Before the court was Gavin Lyons, 25, whose address was given as No Fixed Abode, Kildare.

He is being prosecuted for alleged assault, trespass and the production of an article on November 12, 2024, at 1846 Lourdesville, Kildare.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan claimed that the defendant entered a property and went inside where he demanded beer from the occupant. He said a dispute followed and he produced a broken glass bottle. He said there was no connection between the defendant and the injured party.

However, this was disputed by solicitor Tim Kennelly who said the defendant will say there was a connection between them.

Judge Desmond Zaidan sent the defendant forward for trial to the present sittings of Naas Circuit Court. He told the defendant that if an alibi forms any part of his defence he must provide this to the prosecution in advance.
