Iarnród Éireann say works will begin on Thursday, March 21
Car Park upgrade works will commence at Kildare Station on Thursday, March 21. The works will provide 30 additional spaces for cars, plus 50 additional spaces for bike parking. This will bring the total number of car parking spaces to 165 and the number of bike parking spaces to 60.
The existing car park will be resurfaced and line markings will be repainted throughout. There will also be a new pedestrian entrance from the west end of the car park off Fair Green Road, along with new footpaths through the car park to the station entrance.
Existing drainage, lighting and CCTV will be upgraded along with the provision of 18 spaces for future EV charging. Funded by the National Transport Authority, the investment into the station is in region of €3.4 million and works are due to be completed by the end of this year. The works will be carried out in a phased manner to minimise disruption to commuters. 115 car spaces will be maintained and available for parking throughout these upgrade works.
Speaking about the works, Paul Stanley, Customer Experience Manager for the area said,“This upgrade to the station will be welcomed by all commuters. Demand for park and ride, additional bike parking and improved pedestrian access has never been higher in Kildare as more and more people opt to take our services for work, education or leisure as our services are frequent, reliable and sustainable."
