Works needed before Kildare estate can be taken over by council

Work needs to be done in a Naas residential area before it can be taken in charge, meaning the local authority takes responsibility for roads, paths and public areas.
That is what Cllr Anne Breen was told at a Naas Municipal District meeting.
Cllr Breen asked when Primrose Gardens would be taken in charge and for information about “all the outstanding estate maintenance issues still not completed.”
According to Kildare County Council engineer Liam McNeela, a bond of €190,000 is available but he claimed this won’t be enough and alternative funding sources are also being looked at.
He said preliminary investigations had been carried out to ascertain the location and condition of the drainage outfall and attenuation system.
He also said CCTV surveys of the foul and surface water network are being revised to identify required remediation works.
He said KCC is “working towards developing a full scope of works with a view to bringing Primrose Gardens to a taking in charge standard.”
