FINED

A Kildare Judge was amused at a man's ironic last name in a court case heard at Naas District Court on Thursday, July 13 last.

The case concerned one Pavel Bogus, of White Abbey Road in Kildare town.

The 39-year-old was found to have had a false insurance policy on his car while at Priory Court in Kildare town on January 22 last.

He also had no licence on this date.

Upon hearing this, the judge couldn't help himself — he jokingly remarked: "He had a bogus insurance policy, and his last name is bogus... you couldn't make it up!"

It was heard that Mr Bogus has no previous convictions.

Judge Zaidan decided to imposed a combined fine of €750 for the two offences, and he gave Mr Bogus three months to pay the fines.
