Young man charged with sexually assaulting 14 year old girl
Allegation
A young County Kildare man charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a 14 year old and with sending her an explicit image appeared before a sitting of Naas District Court.
The man is aged in his early twenties and is charged with committing the alleged offences on dates earlier this year at an address in the Midlands.
A parent of the defendant was present in court for the brief hearing and Sgt Dave Hanrahan said a book of evidence is being prepared.
Sgt Dave Hanrahan said the offences arose after the defendant allegedly met a 14 year old female for the purposes of a sexual encounter.
The defendant appeared via video link and the case was adjourned.
Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the matter for the preparation of a book of evidence and he indicated that the case is likely to be heard in the circuit court.
