A kilometre for every life lost to suicide in 2020
HI guy's after losing a friend to suicide late last year and at the time looking at a very hollow running year in 2021 i decided i wanted to do something for suicide awareness. I done some research and couldn't lock down a figure for deaths last year but it was expected to be an increase on 2019 which was 421 lives sadly. I set the figure at 450 and set a date to run a kilometre for every life lost for August 2021 and i am currently on this venture. It's a sizeable distance averaging 15km's a day for the entire month. I'm raising funds and awareness for www.jigsaw.ie they are a young mental health group with a focus on early intervention on young people ages 12-25. I have an online page set up that you can donate on but it also tracks the mileage. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wes-reilly I have also set up an Instagram account specifically for the run (Wesley Reilly Jigsaw Run) so people can track it in more detail but maybe also organize to join me or if they wish to have someone remembered themselves i'll give them a mention. There's also some giveaways via the page and a draw for a nice hamper for anyone that donates, So a small donation is similar to buying a raffle ticket. I was hoping to do something relevant and a little different and i think this is. I'd really appreciate any feedback or assistance you can give me. [email protected]
