An internationally acclaimed musician from Italy is bound for Laois to perform at a festival in the county over the October midterm.

Italian harpist and composer Adriano Sangineto will perform a concert in Castletown to mark Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the EU at this year's Tionól Harp + Pipes festival.

The annual festival, organised by Music Generation Laois, brings young people who play harp and uilleann pipes from across Ireland to Laois.

Sangineto’s harp and light show, 'Harp Revolution – Visual Harp' will take place in the Church of the De La Salle Retreat Centre, at 7pm on Tuesday, October 27. The musician is internationally acclaimed for his innovative approach and his ability to take the harp beyond the boundaries of tradition.

Through original compositions, evocative sounds, and visual projections perfectly synchronized with the live music, the audience is taken on an immersive journey of ever-changing soundscapes, colors, and atmospheres. At center stage, a striking luminous tetrahedron becomes a dynamic sculpture; images and shapes come to life in dialogue with the harp, transforming every piece into an experience to be both heard and seen—a continuous encounter between sound, space, and imagination. The visual design was created by visual art designer Jacopo Dessì. The show premiered at the Villa Reale in Monza in September 2025 as part of the Monza Park Festival. It recently completed an Australian tour in February 2026 and is scheduled to appear at the prestigious Harp On Wight Festival in Ryde (Isle of Wight) this October.

Speaking ahead of the event, Rosa Flannery Music Development Officer with Music Generation Laois said, 'we are delighted to welcome this exciting production to Castletown, featuring Adriano Sangineto on Celtic Harp, Electronics, drum pads, vocals set against the backdrop of a striking light show, and set in the beautiful Church building in the De La Salle Retreat Centre, this promises to be a truly unique event in Laois this October.'

Tickets are available on eventbrite, or at the door, with tickets priced at €10 for adults and €5 for under 18s. For further information on Music Generation Laois, including Tionól Harp + Pipes 2026, see musicgenerationlaois.ie
