Accused of assault at Portlaoise pub

A book of evidence was served on a man accused of assault at Maggie May’s pub in Portlaoise. 

Stephen Brennan, 33, of 43 Oakleaf Place, Portlaoise is accused of assault causing harm at Maggie May’s, Top Square, Portlaoise on December 3 last year. 

Garda Rebecca Gavin gave evidence of serving the book of evidence on the accused in the body of Portlaoise District Court. 

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the accused should be sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court on January 9. 

Judge Andrew Cody sent the defendant forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court on January 9. He remanded the man on bail and granted legal aid for one solicitor and one barrister.
