Action sought over flooding at Laois house and church

Action has been requested of Laois County Council to solve flooding at a Laois church and house.
The Church of Ireland church in Mayo, Crettyard was suffering flooding from a damaged drain, while the house in Killeshin is "being flooded the whole time".
Cllr Ben Brennan raised both issues in motions tabled to the March meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District.
He asks for the council to install a drain outside a house on Joe's Road, Killeshin and to fill in the drain outside another house on the same road.
"A house is being flooded the whole time. There wants to be a drain put in 30 yards long. Put in a couple of gullies and take the water off the road," he suggests.
The council has agreed to meet on site.
The church flood was already resolved by the time of the March meeting, with drainage improvement works done on the R431.
"That will be a big improvement. It was being flooded, it needed to be done badly," Cllr Brennan said.
