The man appeared before Portlaoise District Court

A man appeared in court accused of having drugs for sale or supply in Laois.

Sean Moore (53) of Ross, Rathdowney is accused of cannabis for sale or supply at Ross Upper on April 24 last.

“We don’t have directions yet. It is allegedly a very large sum,” Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court. He suggested the case be put back until April  2025.

Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald asked that the case be marked peremptory. He said “the allegation is weighing heavily on the defendant.”

“It shouldn’t take a year, if it can perhaps go to February,” Mr Fitzgerald suggested.

“I will mark it time passing and remand on continuing bail,” said Judge Susan Fay.

She adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on March 10, 2025.
