Big supermarket chain recruiting in Laois
Aldi is offering jobs in Laois where it says it has invested more than €30 million since it began operating in the county nearly 20 years ago.
The German supermarket chain says it wants to fill 360 vacancies across the retailers’ 156-store network in Ireland, including vacancies in Laois at branches in Portlaoise, Portarlington and Graiguecullen.
Recruitment has begun for the roles, which are a mix of existing and newly created vacancies, with Aldi saying it is keen to fill all positions as soon as possible as the company continues to open new stores and sees an increase in customer demand ahead of the busy summer period.
The chain says it has announced 810 new jobs in recent months, supporting plans for growing its network. The company claims it has invested €33 million in Laois since first opening in Graiguecullen in 2005.
It says the new hires will join the 86-strong Laois team and the 4,650 members working for Aldi in Ireland.
Aldi says it pays all store assistants up to €16.00 an hour with an entry rate of €13.85 an hour.
The company has 13 jobs to fill in Laois. It is hiring four permanent and nine fixed-term store assistants in its Laois shops.
Donald Mackay is Aldi's Regional Managing Director.
“ALDI’s focus remains firmly on providing great value for our customers, people and the communities in which we operate. Across our 156 stores, and three in Laois, we are delivering for customers at a time when household expenses and value have never been more important.
“In order to provide great value to our customers, it has to start with our people. We have a dedicated and talented team of 4,650 people across our 156 stores who support the business in delivering for our customers each and every day. We are always looking for talented, hardworking and committed people to join the ALDI family, as we continue to grow and develop the business in Ireland, and we look forward to welcoming new colleagues to the team,” he said.
