Bridge damaged by truck in Laois

Work is being planned at the bridge
Repair work is being planned for a bridge that was damaged by a truck in Rosenallis.
Fianna Fail Councillor Seamus McDonald requested the work at a recent council meeting. He asked “that Laois County Council repair the damaged bridge at Meelick, Rosenallis.”
Cllr McDonald said damage was caused to the bridge last November when it was hit by a truck.
“I think a van or truck hit this bridge in November and some of it is in the river now at the moment,” he explained.
“It is quite dangerous out there. The road is narrow as well,” said Cllr McDonald.
Senior Executive Engineer Edmund Kenny said: “The bridge will be inspected and included for repair on the bridge maintenance programme.”
Independent Cllr Ollie Clooney offered his support to the motion.
The issue was discussed at the January meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District.
