The Fullmoon Midlands Gathering and Aligned with Amanda are inviting people to ‘Samhain Gathering’ - an evening of relaxation and meditation in Portarlington on Saturday, October 28.

There will be meditation, Yoga, sound healing and dance all lit by a warming campfire at the Derryounce Lakes on the Laois Offaly border.

The organisers say the evening is dedicated to two local fund-raising groups. These are Avril Teirney in Portarlington for Breast Cancer research and Martina Coss in Mountmellick for the Giggle Fund and Eoin’s Journey.

The Fullmoon Gathering was started in June 2022 in Portarlington with around 20 people attending. It has run every month since.

The Fullmoon events involve people meeting once a month up at the Derryounce lake for yoga or meditation under the full moon. They have always been a completely free event and the facilitators give their time free of charge.

Sinead Dempsey is one of the organisers.

“As we are coming to the end of the season, we decided to finish off the year on a high. We are making the October full moon a charity event and raising funds for local causes,” says Sinead.

They have plenty of parking, but carpooling is recommended where possible.

Tickets are €15.00 and can be purchased on Eventbrite. All profits will be shared between the two charities.

“Please come out and show your support,” say the organisers.

Attendees are asked to bring yoga mats, warm clothes and positive energy, fairy lights and glow sticks. The event is weather dependent. Samhain Gathering will start at 5.30pm sharp at The Derryounce Lakes Portarlington.
