Broken road surface 'flying into' hallway of Laois pub

Laois County Council is requested to repair road outside Ballacolla pub
Tar, grit and water are falling into the hallway of a rural Laois pub, because the road is "disintegrating" outside.
Cllr Ollie Clooney is asking Laois County Council to fix the road beside Hayes Pub in Ballacolla.
"When the man opens his side door, the tar is disintegrating, it flies in. There is tar, grit, water coming into his hallwoay. This man is paying his rates and trying to make a living. It's not easy for rural pubs," he said.
He tabled a motion to the March meeting of Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal District asking for the repair of the Durrow Road in Ballacolla.
Cllr John King seconded.
"We don't want a man falling into a pub, or falling out," he quipped.
In response, a Laois County Council maintenance crew will fix the road in the coming weeks.
